The Other Ones

Prologue

            I wouldn't have picked up this book if I were you. But hey, that's just me.

            My name's Madge. I was born in Hollow, a small town north of Isabis, the greatest city in all of Genesis.

            To let you know, I have short, curly blonde hair, green eyes, and a huge appetite. I'm fifteen in Gene years. I have no idea how old I am in human years.

            I also have many friends, six to be exact.

            First there's Saffron. She's thirteen and is the most beautiful being you will ever see. She has straight blonde hair and brown eyes. Yes, an odd combination. She loves flowers and adores being in gardens. She's just, well, beautiful.

            And then there's Ivie. She has straight black hair and black eyes. Yet another strange combination. She's nine and is a great dancer. That's how she got her name. Ever since she was a child, she's loved dancing.

            Caden is eleven. He has short red hair and blue eyes. We are all strange, aren't we? He loves Cardoo, which is sour taffy, and he enjoys scaring us.

            Then there's Garren. He's fourteen, and he has longish brown hair and gorgeous purple eyes. He's always protective of people and of his stuff. So don't make him mad.

            Warrick is fifteen, like me. He has short, curly brown hair and brown eyes. He looks pretty normal, except for the scar on his left cheek. He wins every game you play and every battle, too. I'll explain about that later.

            Last, there's Galena. People call her the Healer. We just call her Galena. You see, Galena bought my friends from an Orphanage in Isabis. I guess I'm the only one with parents here. But I never get to see them. They're always off quests and such.

            But that's not all...

            I'm a Witch.

            Saffron and Ivie are Witches.

            Warrick, Garren, and Caden are Wizards.

            My Mum is a Witch.

            My Father is a Wizard.

            Galena is a Witch. Actually, she's the best Witch. She's a Witchess. Everyone knows about her. You wouldn't believe how many books in the library there are about her and previous Witchesses.

            We are special, I guess.
